It is a huge business to produce food and other necessities for pets. There are now hundreds of firms that sell pet foods and perhaps partly thanks to the fresh controversies surrounding their productions Iams pet food is among the better known in the industry. Iams provides a range of pet foods especially for cats and dogs and also has a range of other pet care products.

According to Iams, their Iams pet food products are created in a perfectly ethical manner and the animals they own are looked after in a very loving and caring manner. Iams also has an employee pet borrowing scheme and claims more than 85% of pets used by the firm were assumed by the employees. The quality of Iams pet food is something that is plausible and the company runs its own nutrition centre. The latter keeps Iams pet food out of controversy as they project a good image to the outside society.

Whatever the company says, critics say pretty different things. The common accusations for Iams pet food company is that they carry out unethical food testing and experiments on animals plus their company owned animals are not properly taken care of. The envision they give of Iams pet food is indeed a very heavy one.

The critics have gone up to the extent of voicing their thought by carrying bill boards urging the public not to buy Iams pet food. Whether or not the allegations are true remains a matter of dispute but due to the intense pressure Iams pet food announced that the company would be doing all laboratory testing within its own premises. The PETA claims that the pressure exerted on Iams pet food has improved conditions though for them it is still far from satisfactory.

It s highly unlikely that all reports of Iams cruel practices like flushing living kittens down drains etc. could be true. Still there may be umpteen ground in the allegement and it is also unlikely that Iams pet food is developed under perfect terms. But the lesson to learn is that the public voice speaks a lot on behalf of the little dogs and kitten who cannot voice their own thoughts at face of cruelty.
